When I first came to Sai Kung town, I remember that I failed to recognize Sai Kung Town. My classmates told me that there was Sai Kung.

Immediately I looked around and wondered if this quiet, undeveloped town is Sai Kung. After looking around this place, I felt disappointed with this "lifeless" place.

We got off the couch beside the new sport stadium. Opposite to the stadium, we stand in front of several low-rise buildings. With no interest in those ordinary buildings, I were chatting with my friends. After few minutes, our supervisor, from the center of Urban planning and Environmental Management, led us to walk around Sai Kung Town. At first, we walked along the water promenade. During this carefree walking, very comfortable breeze blew to my hairs. It seemed to lighten our mental burden and cause me forget my workload.

Along the promenade, many seafood restaurants are running. In the entrance of the restaurants, seafood salepersons were bargaining with customers about the prices of fresh seafood such as shells, shrimp, crab, fishes and the like. Looking through the restaurant windows, I were seeing that a lot of customers were enjoying their flesh seafoods. At that time, I was very envious with them who could eat such delicious food in such ambient environment.

The goal of visiting Sai Kung was to study Sai Kung Town and observe it through SWOT framework. Anyway, I was not concerned about such study during my first site visit. Only I followed our supervisor in going through each street in Sai Kung town. Nevertheless, when we entered Sai Kung old market Town, my classmates and I started to have a sense of closeness or warmth to such village environment. Why? I didn't konw at that moment.

Afer retrospection, i seem to recognise the cause. Perhaps, the street structure is similar to the demolished Kowloon Wall City which was my growth-up cradle. During my childhood, I often walked along the dark, narrow and meandering streets, such street which always led us from a dark area to a bright area. Since this, I seem to have a sense of familiarity to the Sai Kung Old market town. No doubt the market town is different from Kowloon Wall City because its streetscape is cleaner and more serene.

After the field visit, I am interested in Sai Kung.
